During the course of the investigation, it was learned that victim James Black was working as a Bail Bondsman attempting to apprehend suspect Chad James Green, when Green fatally shot Black. Green remains considered armed and dangerous.

The Central Homicide Unit continued its investigation into this case and identified the suspect as Chad James Green, 41 years old of Riverside. Green should be considered as armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If anyone should come across Green, please call 911, as there is an active arrest warrant issued for his arrest.

On Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at 7:13 PM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Station responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon at a hotel in the 24000 Block of Sunnymead Blvd, in the city of Moreno Valley.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found a male suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies rendered medical aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. The male was transported to a local hospital where he died. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The deceased male was identified as James Black, 42 years old of Lake Elsinore.
