On December 20th, 2019, members of the Sheriff’s Southwest Station Special Enforcement Team concluded a month long investigation regarding the theft of electrical services and the illegal cultivation of marijuana within a residential neighborhood. During the investigation, Sheriff’s personnel obtained information which resulted in the authoring of a search warrant for a single family residence in the 32100 block of Bandelier Road (unincorporated area known as French Valley).

On December 20th, 2019, Riverside Sheriff’s Department personnel served the search warrant and detained two (2) individuals. One of the individuals was determined to be participating or playing a role in the illegal grow operation and was ultimately arrested. The other individual was determined to be uninvolved in the grow operation and was released from the scene.

Arrested: Thang Duc Tran (DOB12/03/72) from Garden Grove, Ca.

In all, more than four hundred and forty (440) marijuana plants, in various stages of growth, were located and seized. Additional evidence connected to the illegal theft of electrical services was also located and photographed. The theft of electrical services was estimated to be in excess of $80,000 over a two and a half year time span.
