After this collision, based on the injuries he sustained, the driver of the Chrysler Sebring was in intensive care at an area hospital. He ultimately succumbed to his injuries. At the conclusion of this fatal traffic collision investigation the case was submitted to the Riverside County District Attorney’s office for prosecution. Based on the circumstances of the investigation the District Attorney filed the charge of 191.5(a) PC on the driver of the Toyota Corolla, Angelica Huaste. A felony warrant was issued for her arrest. On Thursday, January 14, 2020, about 5:00 PM, deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s station responded to Huaste’s residence located in the City of San Jacinto. She was arrested based on the felony warrant and transported to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility where she was booked into custody. On Saturday, October 27, 2018, about 4:10 AM, officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to the intersection of Ramona Expressway and State Street in the City of San Jacinto regarding an injury traffic collision.  The preliminary investigation revealed Angelica Huaste, 23 years old of San Jacinto was driving her 2017 Toyota Corolla east on Ramona Expressway. Richard Thomas, 72 years old of Yucaipa was driving his 2004 Chrysler Sebring and he was making a left turn from northbound State Street to westbound Ramona Expressway.  The vehicles collided broadside in the intersection causing major damage to both.  Thomas was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment.  Huaste displayed obvious signs of intoxication and she was arrested for suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.  She was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation and later booked into custody at the Cois Byrd Detention Center.  Personnel of the San Jacinto Police Department’s Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and the investigation is ongoing. 

The San Jacinto Police Department would like to remind motorists not to drive while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.  We are asking for any witnesses of this collision to please contact Officer Bechtold at 951-654-2702.
