On Friday, January 31, 2020, at approximately 9:44 PM, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Palm Desert Station, responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian in the area of Cook Street and Desert Horizon, Indian Wells. Upon the deputy’s arrival they located a 22-year-old white female adult suffering from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. The female suffered major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, a 41-year-old white female adult, from Palm Desert, remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation, and was later released. 

The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was in the roadway when she was struck by the vehicle (Honda Minivan). The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and it is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in this collision. 

The identity of the deceased will be released by the coroner’s office once positive identification can be established.
