On Saturday, February 1, 2020, about 2:25 am, deputies from the San Jacinto station responded to the area of Cottonwood Avenue west of Lyon Avenue in the City of San Jacinto regarding a single vehicle traffic collision investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed a silver, Toyota Camry driven by an adult female (solo occupant) resident of San Jacinto was traveling east on Cottonwood Avenue. The vehicle veered to the right, left the roadway and struck a large tree located on the south side of Cottonwood Avenue. Medical personnel from Cal Fire responded and provided the driver medical attention; however, she was pronounced deceased on scene. Deputies assigned to the San Jacinto Station’s Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Personnel from the Riverside County Coroner’s office also responded to the scene of the collision, the driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Eastbound Cottonwood Avenue was closed at Ivy Crest Drive until about 6:30 am.
