2/24/2020:

On Monday, February 24, 2020, investigators arrested 26-year-old Francisco Anthony Yzararraz of Perris for the murder of Gelder Funes-Lopez. Gelder Funes-Lopez was shot on February 2, 2020, at a business in the 200 block of E. 4th Street in Perris. Yzararraz was already in custody for an unrelated arrest, which occurred days after the shooting. Yzararraz is currently being held at the Cois Byrd Detention Center. Anyone who may have information related to this case is encouraged to contact Investigator Navarrete of the Central Homicide at (951) 955-2777.



On Sunday, February 2, 2020, at 7:59 PM, deputies responded to a business in the 200 block of E. 4th Street in Perris, for a report of an Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Deputies arrived within minutes and located an unconscious adult male lying on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts by deputies and medical personnel, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Gelder Funes-Lopez from Temecula.

The area was searched for a suspect; however, the suspect(s) remains outstanding. The investigation is ongoing, and currently, there are no additional details regarding the suspect(s) available for release.
