On February 25, 2020 around 0900 hours, Coachella deputies responded to a residence in the 52200 block of Calle Empalme, Coachella, regarding a family disturbance. Investigation revealed known gang member Juan Macias, 32 of Coachella, attempted to assault his grandmother and uncle with a knife after he forced his way into their residence. One of the victims sustained minor injuries; however, refused medical treatment at the scene. Macias was taken into custody and booked at the Riverside County Jail in the city of Indio for assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, vandalism, and violation of a gang injunction. An uninvolved male, identified as known gang member Juan Macias Gonzalez, 29 of Coachella, was also contacted at the residence. He was found to have a felony narcotic warrant and was also arrested and booked.
