On Friday, February 21, 2020, Lake Elsinore Station deputies responded to the 31000 block of Riverside Drive in the city of Lake Elsinore in reference to a carjacking, which had just occurred. Deputies learned the victim’s vehicle was taken by two unknown male suspects. After an extensive search, the vehicle was located, abandoned on Conard Road. The Lake Elsinore Station Investigations Bureau was contacted and assumed the investigation.

Investigators were able to identify the suspects as Gustavo Morales, a 20-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore, and Joshua Carreon, a 21-year-old resident of Lake Elsinore. After an extensive search for the suspects, they were both apprehended and booked into Cois Bryd Detention Center. Morales and Carreon are both being held on a one-million-dollar bail and are currently facing the felony charges of carjacking, robbery, kidnapping with the intent to commit robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy.
