Incident Location:Lake Park Drive and Soboba Road, City of San Jacinto
Reporting Officer: Sergeant Bryan De Loss
File Number(s):I200640022

On Wednesday, March 4, 2020, about 0915 hours, deputies from the San Jacinto Sheriff’s station responded to the area of Soboba Road and Lake Park Drive in the City of San Jacinto regarding a report of a reckless driver in the area.  The reporting party also indicated the driver appeared intoxicated.  The vehicle was described as a silver, Audi sedan displaying two different California license plates and occupied by two males.

Deputies arrived in the area and located the Audi traveling west on Soboba Road toward Lake Park Drive.  A records check revealed the rear license plate was registered to a Dodge vehicle.  A traffic stop was initiated; however, the driver failed to yield and a vehicle pursuit was initiated.  The vehicle drove toward the Ramona Expressway on Lake Park Drive then fled eastbound.  The pursuit covered several roadways located in the east area of the City of San Jacinto and the vehicle ultimately drove back to Soboba Road.  Sheriff’s Aviation assisted the ground units and tracked the vehicle to an address in the 23000 block of Soboba Road.  The driver, Daniel Francisco Ponce (05-20-1995) fled the vehicle and ran into the residence.  The passenger, John Vincent Sanchez (10-19-1981) fled the vehicle to the east and into a neighboring property.  He was taken into custody by deputies.  Ponce initially refused to exit the residence, he ultimately surrendered to law enforcement.

Ponce was booked into custody at the Larry Smith Correctional Facility for violations of 2800.2(a) CVC, 4463(a)(1) CVC, 23152(a) CVC and 23152(b) CVC.  Sanchez was booked into custody at the same location for violations of 148(a)(1) PC and 3056 PC.

Please refer any questions to Sergeant Bryan De Loss at the San Jacinto Sheriff’s station, 951-654-2702.
