Update:

On Friday, March 6, 2020, two suspects were identified and arrested for the murder of Gustavo Hernandez. Ricky Ortiz, 19 years old from Winchester and Omar Arango, 19 years old also from Winchester were booked at the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center for murder.

Details: 

On March 4, 2020, at about 9:34 p.m., deputies assigned to the unincorporated area of Winchester were dispatched to an assault with a deadly weapon call in the 28000 block of Whitaker St., Winchester. Deputies arrived within minutes and located an adult male with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Deputies began emergency life saving measures until paramedics arrived. Emergency medical personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Deputies secured the area as a crime scene and investigators from Perris Sheriff Station responded. The Central Homicide Unit also responded and assumed the investigation.

The victim was identified as Gustavo Hernandez, 21 years of Perris. The investigation is currently on-going and no further information will be released at this time.
