On Wednesday March 04, 2020, about 1:00 PM, Jurupa Valley Patrol Deputies were dispatched to an armed robbery that occurred in the 4200 block of Lindsey St. in Jurupa Valley. During the initial investigation, the suspect was identified as 29-year-old Steven Munoz, a resident of Jurupa Valley. Munoz was also identified as an active gang member to a local criminal street gang. At the time of the initial investigation, Munoz did not remain on scene and was being sought by law enforcement.

On Friday March 06, 2020, approximately 1400 hours, Munoz was seen walking in the area of Bellegrave Avenue and Etiwanda Avenue in Jurupa Valley. Munoz was immediately taken into custody without incident. At that point, members of the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force from Region-7 along with members of the Jurupa Valley Special Enforcement Team assumed the investigation.

Task force officers were able to establish enough probable cause to author a search warrant for Munoz’ residence. During the search of Munoz’ residence, task force officer located a loaded firearm believed to be the one used in the armed robbery. They also located additional ammunition belonging to a separate firearm and large amounts of gang indicia. Munoz was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on the below listed charges;

  • Armed Robbery with a Firearm.
  • Criminal Street Gang Membership.
  • Unregistered firearm.

The Region 7 Gang Task Force is one of five teams composing the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force, with the goal of combating criminal street gangs throughout Riverside County. The Region 7 Gang Task Force is composed of members from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, and Riverside County Probation.
