On Wednesday, March 18th, 2020, at 9:00 A.M. the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force conducted follow up investigation into a vehicle pursuit / felony evading that occurred on March 17th, 2020 at 10:45 P.M. in Thousand Palms. During the incident, a Gang Task Force Officer attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop during which time the driver of the vehicle failed to yield. The driver of the vehicle led the Gang Task Force Officer on a short pursuit before the pursuing officer terminated the pursuit. The suspect vehicle was located a short time later abandoned in the area of Calle Jessica and 30th Avenue in Thousand Palms. The vehicle was towed from the scene. On Wednesday, March 18th, 2020, Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call from a man attempting to report the vehicle that was involved in the pursuit as stolen. Gang Task Force Officers responded to the man’s residence and positively identified the man as the driver from the pursuit. Daniel Guadalupe Roman, 29 of Thousand Palms was arrested for Felony Evading and Filing a False Police Report. Roman was booked at the Indio Jail.
