Details:

On Wednesday, March 25th, about 1:15 PM, members of the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force were conducting gang saturation and patrol in the area of Aloha Road and San Jacinto Avenue, in the unincorporated county area of Mead Valley. Officers recognized a documented criminal street gang member on Post Release Community Supervision exiting a vehicle. They detained 33-year-old Perris resident, Raul Castaneda Jr and conducted a search of the vehicle he exited. Officers located a high capacity magazine loaded with several live rounds of 9mm ammunition and a firearm concealed in the vehicle. Additionally, methamphetamine and a handgun laser mount were found in the vehicle.  Castaneda was also determined to be under the influence of methamphetamine. Castaneda was arrested and later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for the following charges: 

    Possession of methamphetamine while armed with a firearm

    Under the influence of methamphetamine with a firearm

    Gang member in possession of an unregistered firearm

    Possession of a high capacity magazine 

    Felon in possession of a firearm 

    Violation of Post Release Community Supervision terms  

The Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force is composed of five regional gang teams, which is a collaborative effort of several law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs throughout Riverside County. 

The Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force is composed of members from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Murrieta Police Department, Hemet Police Department, California Highway Patrol, and Riverside County Probation Department.
