Details:
On Tuesday March 31, 2020 at 10:28 AM, a suspect, later identified as Joe Sanchez, a 35 year old from the city of Lake Elsinore, attempted to assault a Lake Elsinore Station Deputy with a vehicle leading to a Deputy Involved Shooting. The suspect fled the area in a white, single cab dually pickup truck, possibly a late 1990s or early 2000s Ford. The deputy did not sustain any injuries and it is unknown if the suspect was struck by gunfire.
Per department policy, the deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave.
The Central Homicide Unit is investigating the incident and seeking assistance in locating the suspect. Sanchez has made statements that he will be shot by a cop before going back to prison.
