On Sunday, April 5, 2020, about 0557 hours, deputies from the San Jacinto Station arrived on the Ramona Expressway east of Sanderson Avenue in the City of San Jacinto regarding a traffic collision investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed a white Acura sedan stopped for an unknown reason in the eastbound number three lane of Ramona Expressway. A white semitruck / fuel tanker was traveling in the same lane and direction when it collided into the rear of the Acura. The force of this collision caused major damage to the rear of the Acura and pushed the vehicle into the dirt shoulder of the roadway. Two passengers inside the Acura were provided medical attention at the scene and were transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Acura was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identification of the decedent is being withheld pending the Coroner’s notification of the next of kin.

The San Jacinto Station’s Collision Reconstruct Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. During the investigation eastbound Ramona Expressway was closed at Sanderson Avenue until about 11:00 a.m. This investigation is ongoing, anyone with information is encouraged to contact Deputy Cortez at the San Jacinto Station, 951-654-2702.
