On Wednesday, April 29th, 2020, at 4:00 P.M. the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (CVVCGTF) with the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s SWAT conducted a follow up investigation into an assault with a firearm that occurred on Friday, April 24th, 2020. The incident occurred at a residence located in the 42000 block of Wisconsin Avenue in the city of Palm Desert. During the incident, a male suspect, later identified as Robert Venegas, 44, documented gang member of Palm Desert, pointed a handgun at a victim inside the residence. No shots were fired during the incident.

SWAT and Gang Task Force Officers arrested Venegas after locating him at a motel in the 80000 block of Highway 111 in the city of Indio. Venegas was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon, being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and a Firearm Enhancement. Venegas was booked at the Indio Jail.
