Details:

On June 16, 2020, members of the Hemet / San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force were in the area of Devonshire Avenue and Hamilton St., in the city of Hemet, they recognized 18-year-old Hemet resident Tyshajia Boyd in the area. Boyd was wanted for questioning on a criminal case involving a felon being in possession of ammunition. Boyd was also wanted for questioning on several robberies, assaults, and carjackings.

When task force officers attempted to take him into custody, Boyd fled on foot from officers into a nearby apartment complex. Hemet Police Department patrol officers, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Airship, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit responded to assist with the search. Boyd was quickly captured by the sheriff K-9 after hiding under a vehicle in the apartment complex. Boyd was positively identified by victims in a series of robberies that occurred in the city of Hemet between June 8, and June 11, 2020.  Boyd was later booked into custody at the Cois Byrd Detention Center, charged with Carjacking, committing a felony with a firearm, Prior Serious Felony, Criminal Street Gang Activity, and Gang Enhancement in 4 different robberies.

The Hemet/San Jacinto Gang Task Force is comprised of members from the Hemet Police Department, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Riverside County Probation Department, and the California Highway Patrol. The Hemet/San Jacinto Gang Task Force operates in the Cities of Hemet, San Jacinto, and the unincorporated areas of Hemet. The law enforcement leadership within the valley meets regularly and coordinates the Hemet/SanJacinto Valley Gang Task Force activities. Since the formation of the task force, leadership has recognized the importance of working together to provide the highest level of service for the citizens within the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley.

The Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force is one of six teams composing the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force,which is a collaborative effort of various law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs.
