On Friday, June 19th, 2020, the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force, with the assistance of the Palm Desert Station Investigations Bureau, conducted a follow-up investigation in reference to a Home Invasion and Assault that occurred at a residence located in the 72000 block of Fred Waring Drive, in Palm Desert at approximately 3:37 A.M. During the incident, multiple suspects kicked down the front door to a residence entered and physically assaulted a resident using a metal object. The suspects took property and money from the residence and fled. The victim sustained non-life threating injuries as a result of the assault.

Gang Task Force Officers identified the suspects as documented criminal street gang member, San Martin Lopez, 34 of Indio and Joshua Garcia, 18 of Indio. Additionally, two 17-year-old female juveniles were identified as suspects. Gang Task Force Officers located and subsequently arrested the suspects at a residence located in the 45000 block of Monroe Street in Indio. Gang Task Force Officers later served a search warrant at the residence during which time they located a metal tool believed to be the weapon used during the assault. Also located during the search warrant was gang indicia and suspected methamphetamine.

San Martin Lopez and Joshua Garcia were charged with Home Invasion, Robbery, Burglary, Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Conspiracy. They were booked at the Indio Jail. The two female juveniles were released to parents and the same charges will be filed against them out of custody.
