On Sunday, June 21, 2020, at 4:08 am, Palm Desert Deputies responded to the 17000 block of Corkill Road in Desert Hot Springs regarding an unknown trouble. The investigation revealed that Orlando Ochoa Valladares, 26 years old of Desert Hot Springs, assaulted his girlfriend and children and threaten to kill them with a knife. After a struggle, the victims managed to escape and Valladares remained inside the residence by himself. The residence was quickly surrounded by arriving patrol units, and with the assistance of the Special Enforcement Bureau K9 Unit, and several hours of announcements, Valladares was taken into custody without incident. Valladares was booked into Jhon Benoit Detention Center for domestic violence, false imprisonment, criminal threats, child endangerment, and maliciously obstructing the victim from using a cellphone to call for help.
