On Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at 8:00 A.M., personnel from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, with the assistance of Southern California Edison, served a marijuana cultivation related search warrant in the unincorporated Hemet County area. During the service, 574 marijuana plants were eradicated. Twenty-six lights and ballasts were also removed from the residences. Southern California Edison determined the suspect(s) had been stealing electricity by bypassing the breaker. Edison tech estimated the theft of power to be over $25,000.00.

Marijuana cultivation negatively impacts the environment in many ways, including diminishing and poisoning the water table and pesticides adversely affecting the health of neighboring residents.
