Suspect has been identified as Willie Clarence Rush, a 57 year old transient from Moreno Valley. Suspect Rush has been booked into the Riverside County Jail.

Details:

On July 17, 2020, at 11:42 AM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Station responded to a report of an assault occurring at a Bank of America ATM.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a suspect attempted to rob an armored truck employee who was outside of his vehicle. A struggle ensued over the guard’s firearm and the suspect sustained a single gunshot wound. Both the suspect and victim were transported to a nearby hospital for care. The crime scene was processed by investigators with the assistance of forensics. No other persons were found to be injured.

This is an active investigation with suspect’s identity being withheld at this time. The suspect’s name will be released once he is booked into a jail facility. No additional details are currently available.
