The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. Always follow directions for use and read warning labels about driving or “operating heavy machinery,” which includes driving a car. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
On July 19, 2020 deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Lake Elsinore Station responded to a major injury traffic collision on Riverside Drive near the intersection of Gunnerson Street. Deputies arrived within minutes and located a head on collision involving a white Toyota Tundra and a silver Dodge Ram. All involved parties sustained injuries during the collision. The driver of the Tundra, Ramon Hernandez-Delgado (59) of Lake Elsinore, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Hernandez Delgado was admitted to the hospital for his injuries and will be booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center when released.
