Details:
Deputies responded to a traffic collision on Perris Blvd. and Ramona Expressway, in the city of Perris. The preliminary investigation showed a motorist driving a Mercedes, was traveling southbound on Perris Blvd., ran the red light at Ramona Expressway, and collided with a Dodge Durango that was traveling westbound on Ramona Expressway. The Dodge Durango then struck a Honda Accord which was waiting to turn northbound onto Perris Blvd. Two occupants of the Dodge Durango, a 75 year-old female, and an 8-year-old female, sustained major injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes, as well as the drivers of the other vehicles, sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Alcohol/drugs appeared to be factor in this collision. The investigation is on-going.
The Perris Station Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. The intersection of Perris Blvd and Ramona Expressway was closed temporarily during this investigation and re-opened to traffic at 2:45 am.
