On July 18, 2020, deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station County Problem Oriented Policing Team, received information regarding a possible illegal marijuana grow at a residence in the 18000 block of Brightman Avenue, in the unincorporated area of Lakeland Village.
On July 18, 2020, at the direction of Sheriff Chad Bianco, deputies investigated the residence. Upon arrival deputies could smell a strong odor of marijuana. Evan McWilliams (38 years old) a resident of Lakeland Village, was located exiting the residence and gave consent to search. Deputies located both an indoor and outdoor marijuana grow at the location with approximately 400 plants. Several firearms were located along with an undisclosed amount of money. Evan McWilliams was arrested and booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center for cultivation of marijuana.
