Temecula, California – On Saturday, October 3, 2020, about 7:18 a.m., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Southwest Station, responded to Margarita Road, and Paseo Brillante, regarding a major traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. Deputies and medical personnel arrived within minutes and located an unresponsive bicyclist in the roadway. The bicyclist was transported by ambulance to the Inland Valley Regional Medical Center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a gray Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Margarita Road when the bicyclist crossed into oncoming traffic. The driver of the vehicle collided into the bicyclist.

The Southwest Station Traffic Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. During the investigation, Margarita Road was closed between Stonewood and Moraga for several hours.
