On Saturday August 29, 2020, about 7:00 PM, Jurupa Valley Patrol Deputies responded to a shooting that occurred in the 5000 block of Poinsetta PL. in Jurupa Valley. Deputies learned the victim and the suspect had a prearranged meeting to sell and purchase items from “Offer-Up.” As the transaction was to take place, the suspect attempted to rob the victim. As the victim attempted to flee, the suspect shot the victim several times. The victim was able to escape and call 911. The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. With very few leads, the investigation was forwarded to the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force (GTF) Region-7 and Members of the Jurupa Valley Special Enforcement Team (SET) for follow-up. 

After a lengthy investigation, Task Force Officers identified a 16-year-old juvenile, a former Jurupa Valley resident, as the person responsible for the shooting. The juvenile was identified as being a member of an active criminal street gang. On Wednesday October 7, 2020, Task Force Officers arrested the juvenile at his home in the 800 block of Sable St. in Rancho Santa Margarita. The juvenile was booked into the Riverside County Juvenile Hall for the listed charges.

The Region 7 Gang Task Force is one of eight teams composing the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force, which is a collaborative effort of 25 law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs throughout Riverside County. The Region 7 Gang Task Force is composed of members from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the California Highway Patrol.
