Details:
On Saturday, October 10, 2020, at approximately 7:48 AM, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Palm Desert Station, responded to a report of a single vehicle traffic collision northbound Bob Hope Drive, north of Dinah Shore, Rancho Mirage. Upon the deputy’s arrival they discovered an overturned white Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) in the desert area approximately 25 yards off the roadway. The driver of the vehicle a 37-year-old adult from Desert Hot Springs was located deceased a short distance from the vehicle.
The preliminary investigation indicates the deceased male was driving a 2004 Chevrolet (SUV) north bound on Bob Hope Drive at a high rate of speed. The driver appears to have lost control of the vehicle colliding with the curb which caused the vehicle to overturn multiple times ejecting the driver. The cause of this collision is still under investigation, and it is unknown if alcohol may be a factor.
The identity of the deceased will be released by the coroner’s office once positive identification can be established, and next of kin can be notified.
