On Tuesday, October 13, 2020, about 4:41 am, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s station responded to the 300 block of Summerhill Drive, city of Lake Elsinore, regarding a commercial burglary.  During the course of the investigation, deputies learned a description and possible identity of the person responsible for the burglary.  This same suspect was also identified through video surveillance in at least three other commercial burglaries, all within a weeks’ time.  On Tuesday, October 20, about 4:00 am, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s station conducted a bicycle stop on a subject matching the description of the suspect involved in the burglaries.  The subject was identified as Duane Blunt, a 42 year old white male adult from Lake Elsinore.  Upon contact with Blunt, deputies located evidence linking Blunt to the prior thefts.  Blunt was transported and booked into Cois Byrd Detention Center for burglary charges.  Deputies authored a bail enhancement, which was later approved by a judge to increase Blunt’s bail to $500,000.

This investigation is on-going and anyone with further information on this case, or others related to it, are encouraged to contact Deputy Nguyendo, Deputy Chambers or Deputy Noel from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station by calling (951) 245-3300.
