On Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at 6:40 PM, members of the San Gorgonio Special Operations Regional Gang Task Force (Region 2) conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of West Nicolet Street in the City of Banning. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Thord Odell, a 30 year-old resident of Cabazon, California.

During the traffic stop, it was discovered that Odell is a gang member associate. A search was conducted of Odell’s vehicle and a loaded .22 caliber rifle was located under Odell’s front driver’s seat. Odell is a convicted felon and is prohibited from owning or possessing any guns or ammunition. Odell was placed under arrest for felon in possession of a gun, and felon in possession of ammunition, he was booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility.

The Riverside County Gang Task Force is a collaborative effort of several law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs. The San Gorgonio Special Operations Regional Gang Task Force is one of six teams which compose the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force. The San Gorgonio Special Operations Gang Task Force is staffed with members from the Banning Police Department, Beaumont Police Department and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
