Details:
On Sunday, February 21, 2021, about 11:09 AM, deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department-Smith Correctional Facility located an adult male unresponsive within the inmate’s jail cell. Custody staff, jail medical staff, American Medical Response and Cal-Fire personnel administered life-saving measures. The inmate never recovered and was pronounced deceased at 11:50 AM.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department- Corrections Intelligence Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The inmate’s identity will not be released at this time, pending notification to the family. Due to the on-going status of the investigation, no further information is currently available.
