Details:
On January 27, 2021, La Quinta Special Enforcement Team deputies conducted a follow-up investigation that stemmed from an armed robbery which occurred at the 79000 block of Olympia Fields, in La Quinta on December 20, 2020. Deputies identified four suspects who were all armed with firearms at the time of the incident. The suspects assaulted the two victims who were struck in the head with the firearms and rendered unconscious. The victims were subsequently robbed of their belongings.
On March 19, 2021, deputies served a search warrant at the 66000 block of 1st Street, in Desert Hot Springs. Luis Leyva Jr., 32 of Desert Hot Springs, was arrested for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon (firearm), and conspiracy. Leyva was booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center.
