On Saturday, April 10, 2021 about 10:31 A.M., deputies with the San Jacinto Sheriff’s Station initiated a pursuit of a stolen vehicle. The driver, later identified as Noel Avalos (28 transient), fled from law enforcement and drove in a reckless manner. At about 1036 hours, the pursuing units discontinued the pursuit when the Sheriff’s helicopter was in place to follow the suspect.
Later, a California Highway Patrol officer initiated a pursuit of the same vehicle on westbound Interstate 10 east of Oak Valley Parkway. The California Highway Patrol officer pursued the vehicle until it collided with several civilian vehicles on Interstate 10. Mr. Avalos was taken into custody without further incident and provided to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for the criminal investigation and booking. Avalos was transported and booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for felony evading, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, and parole violations.
