On Friday, April 9, 2021, at 7:10 pm, Gang Task Force Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop in the 500 block of West Devonshire Avenue in the city of Hemet. Task Force Officers contacted the driver, Timothy Helman, who was found to be on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for burglary. A probation search of the vehicle was conducted and a fully loaded .22 caliber handgun was found. Also located was approximately 3 ounces of methamphetamine and other items indicative of drug sales. Helman is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm. Helman was arrested on multiple weapons and narcotics related charges and later booked at the local Jail.
The Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force has been in existence since April 2006. The Law Enforcement Agencies within “The Valley” have been working together since this time on a daily basis. The Hemet/San Jacinto Regional Gang Task Force is comprised of members from the Hemet Police Department, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, and the California Highway Patrol. The Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force is one of six teams comprising the Riverside County Gang Task Force, which is a collaborative effort of various law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs
The law enforcement leadership within the valley meets regularly and coordinates the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Gang Task Force activities. Since the formation of the task force, leadership has recognized the importance of working together to provide the highest level of service for the citizens within the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley.
