On Thursday, May 6, 2021, a deputy assigned to the Jurupa Valley Station responded to the 9930 block of Mission Blvd, in the City of Jurupa Valley regarding a vandalism. The suspect involved in this vandalism damaged and broke numerous stained-glass windows and religious statues located at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A press article in a local newspaper was written documenting the incident, in which the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirmed there was an active investigation.

Deputies assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Problem Oriented Policing Team (POP) assumed the investigation. A citizen within the Jurupa Valley community provided video surveillance, which captured images of the suspect in the commission of this crime. Based on the surveillance video, Deputies recognized the suspect from past contacts to be Michael Dudek, a male adult, 30 years of age, and a transient of Jurupa Valley. On May 12, 2021, POP Deputies located Dudek in an abandoned residence in the city of Jurupa Valley where he was arrested. Dudek was booked into the Robert Detention Center for Felony Vandalism.
