Details:
On Thursday, May 27, 2021 at approximately 8:55 a.m., deputies assigned to the Lake Elsinore Station responded to the 32000 block of Wildomar Trail in Wildomar after a citizen found what appeared to be a pipe bomb on a trail located on the property. The metal on the device appeared weathered and more than likely had been discarded at the location some time ago. Deputies evacuated the immediate area and temporarily locked down Wildomar Elementary School for safety reasons. The Riverside Sheriff’s Department Hazard Device Team arrived and safely disabled the device after verifying it contained explosives. The temporary evacuation, school and road closures were lifted once the device was rendered safe.
