On June 17, 2021, around 2:41 A.M., deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Lake Elsinore Station, responded to a traffic collision on Railroad Canyon Rd. and Canyon Lake Dr. S, in Canyon Lake. Deputies arrived within minutes and located a single vehicle that had struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian sustained major injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Cal Fire.
Preliminary investigation indicated the pedestrian was walking across Railroad Canyon Rd., outside of the marked crosswalk, and was struck by an approaching vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the collision. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. The Lake Elsinore Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating.
