Details:
On July 1, 2021, around 11:55 P.M., deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Lake Elsinore Station, responded to a major injury traffic collision on Lakeshore Dr. and Ohio St, in Lake Elsinore. Deputies and Cal Fire arrived within minutes and located a single vehicle that had collided into a block wall. Two occupants were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Cal Fire. The driver was transported to the hospital by AMR with major head injuries. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene by Cal Fire paramedics.
Preliminary investigation indicates the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed south on Lakeshore Dr., lost control of the vehicle, and collided with a block wall at Ohio St. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. The Lake Elsinore Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating.
