Palm Desert Station Burglary Suppression Unit (BSU) conducted further investigation regarding several residential “Cat” burglaries that occurred between the dates of June 21, 2021 and July 09, 2021 within the city of Palm Desert. The victims were inside their homes when the suspect entered and removed property from within the residences. BSU members identified the suspect as, Daniel Olivas Ramirez, 36 years of Palm Springs. On July 30, 2021, Ramirez was located in the 79000 block of Country Club Drive, Bermuda Dunes. Ramirez was arrested for the numerous burglaries and he was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center, in the city of Indio.
Cat burglaries garner a heightened level of concern from the law enforcement community because of the elevated level of risk for the victims. The potential for a dangerous encounter between the homeowner/victim and the suspect is significantly higher in these types of crimes. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department would like to remind you to lock your doors and windows when practical, even when you are home, to assist with keeping you and your family safe.
