On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team conducted a follow-up investigation that stemmed from a grand theft of power tools and other miscellaneous tools from the 78000 block of Highway 111, in the city of La Quinta. The theft occurred on August 4, 2021; however, it was not reported until August 9, 2021. The tools were later returned by the suspects for store credit.

On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, deputies served a property related search warrant at the 82000 block of Valencia Avenue, in the city of Indio. Alfonso Martinez Perez, 35 of Indio, was arrested for grand theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A second related search warrant was served at the 88000 block of Avenue 70, in the unincorporated area of Thermal. Yessenia Juribia Jimenez, 28 of Thermal, was arrested for grand theft, possession of stolen property, conspiracy, and possession of a controlled substance. Both suspects were booked at the John J. Benoit Detention Center.
