Handgun

On August 13, 2021, at 6:00 A.M., deputies assigned to the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT), with the assistance of the Southern Coachella Valley Community Service District Team (SCVCSDT), the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (CVVCGTF), the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team (SET) and the Indio Police Street Crimes Unit (SCU), served a search warrant at multiple residences located in the 80-900 block of Brown Street, Indio, the 82-200 block of Sierra Avenue, Indio, the 82-100 block of Bliss Avenue, Indio, and the 40-200 block of Harris Lane, Palm Desert. The search warrant stemmed from a witness intimidation investigation CCAT was conducting. The witness intimidation occurred of the course of several weeks and included verbal, and electronic threats as well as two shootings at an occupied dwelling.

Multiple criminal street gang members were identified as suspects during the investigation. During the search warrant service, a loaded handgun was located and seized. The following documented criminal street gang members, and a 16 year old juvenile were arrested:

All subjects were booked at the John Benoit Detention Center in the city of Indio except for the 16 y/o Hispanic male juvenile, who was booked at the Indio Juvenile Hall.
