Details:

On Sunday, August 15, 2021, about 10:21 A.M., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Jurupa Valley Station, responded to the report of a major injury collision near the intersection of Limonite Avenue and Etiwanda Avenue, in the city of Jurupa Valley. Deputies arrived on-scene to find a vehicle and a bicyclist involved, a black 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and a black motorized bicycle. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured and remained on scene. He cooperated with the investigation, was interviewed and released at the scene. The rider of the motorized bicycle was found to have major injuries and Cal Fire/Rescue personnel attempted life-saving measures. The bicyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation indicated the bicyclist was traveling westbound on Limonite Avenue and made an abrupt U-turn and collided with the black Chevrolet Silverado, which was also traveling westbound on Limonite Avenue. Both directions of Limonite Avenue between Etiwanda Avenue and Wineville Avenue were closed for the duration of the investigation.

The identities of the involved parties, including the deceased, will not be released pending further investigation and the notification to the next of kin. At this time, it remains unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call Deputy Petersen at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-955-2600 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at 951-776-1099.
