Details:
Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, Palm Desert California - Deputies from the Palm Desert station, who serve the communities of Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, Palm Desert will be out on patrol on August 28, 2021 from 7:00pm until 3:00am. They will be looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Sobriety checkpoints, at undisclosed locations, as well as additional deputies patrolling the area, will be out participating in the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) nationwide campaign, “Saturation Saturday”.
MADD has teamed up with nearly 250 law enforcement departments across the country for the campaign. The MADD website explains “Saturation Saturday is scheduled to fall right in the middle of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. NHTSA’s $13 million Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, long supported by MADD, helps fund increased drunk driving enforcement and advertising from August 16 through Labor Day.”
Mothers Against Drunk Driving mission is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking. This mission is supported by the Sheriff’s Department as we continue our ongoing effort to remove drunk drivers from the streets of our communities.
