Details:
On September 9, 2021, at 10:22 AM, the Colorado River Station Special Enforcement Team (SET) was conducting high visibility patrol in the unincorporated area of Blythe and conducted a vehicle stop for a California Vehicle Code violation on 6th Ave. and Intake Blvd. A records check revealed the driver, Luis Mejia (29-year-old resident of Ripley), had outstanding arrest warrants. During a search incident to arrest, Mejia was found to be in possession of a loaded unregistered firearm and methamphetamine.
Mejia was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Blythe Jail for the following charges:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed
- Possession of an Unregistered Firearm
- Possession of a Methamphetamine
- Driving with a Suspended License
