Details:

On September 13, 2021, approximately 4:26 p.m., San Jacinto deputies received a report an attempt kidnapping of a 5-year-old juvenile in the 300 block of Shaver Street, San Jacinto. Deputies quickly responded to the scene ensuring the juveniles safety. Witnesses were interviewed at the scene and a suspect description was broadcasted over the radio. During the investigation, it was learned a male subject on a bicycle offered the juvenile candy, and when the juvenile refused, the male subject grabbed the juvenile and attempted to ride away. A neighbor standing in front of their residence witnessed what was occurring and was able to assist the juvenile escape the male subject’s grasp. A male matching the description was detained a short distance from the original scene. Deputies confirmed the detained male, Anthony Rodriguez, 32 years of San Jacinto, was seen attempting to ride away with the juvenile. Rodriguez was arrested and booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility for kidnapping. This investigation is currently on-going and no further information will be released at this time.
