Details:
On September 13, 2021, Jurupa Valley Deputies responded to the 5500 Block of 42nd St, Jurupa Valley regarding a shooting. When deputies arrived on scene, they located numerous bullet casings and residential damage caused by the fired bullets. Gang Task Force Officers were contacted regarding the shooting and took over the investigation.
Task Force Officers ultimately identified 41 year old Tony Merendon of Jurupa Valley and 45 year old Jerry Hernandez of Jurupa Valley, both documented criminal street gang members, as being the shooters in this incident.
Both Merendon and Hernandez have since been taken into custody. Merendon has been charged with shooting at an occupied vehicle, and multiple felony warrants. Hernandez has been charged with attempted murder.
