On Saturday, October 23, 2021, about 9:58 a.m., deputies responded to the intersection of Railroad Canyon Dr. and Church Rd., in the city of Lake Elsinore, regarding a major injury traffic collision.

Upon arrival deputies located two vehicles involved in the collision, with one driver inside of their vehicle unresponsive. Deputies provided medical aid until Cal-Fire arrived on scene. Cal-Fire extricated the driver and pronounced them deceased at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was transported with moderate injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates the deceased was driving westbound on Railroad Canyon Dr. and crossed over the median and was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound. The cause of this collision is still under investigation, and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the collision.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the coroner’s office once positive identification can be established, and next of kin can be notified. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Deputy Hadeen of the Lake Elsinore Sheriffs Station at (951) 245-3300.
