Menifee, CA – Deputies responded to a single vehicle traffic collision on State Hwy 74 @ Briggs Rd, in the city of Menifee. The preliminary investigation showed a motorist, a 81-year-old resident of Menifee, was travelling westbound on State Hwy 74, veered to the right, and struck a light pole at the intersection of Briggs Road. The motorist sustained major injuries and died at the scene. A passenger, an 87-year-old resident of Menifee, sustained major injuries, and died at the hospital. There was no indication alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this collision.
The Perris Station Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. The intersection of State Hwy 74 and Briggs Road was closed temporarily during this investigation and re-opened to traffic at 2:20 pm.
