On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force with the assistance of the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team (SET), completed a joint investigation related to illegal weapons possession and theft. Approximately 5:00 P.M., Gang Task Force Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop at Palm Drive and Two Bunch Palms in Desert Hot Springs. During the traffic stop Gang Task Force Officers arrested convicted felon and documented criminal street gang member, Carlos Mayorga, 29 of Palm Springs for Two Outstanding Felony Arrest Warrants. A short time later Gang Task Force Officers responded to Mayorga’s residence located in the 1400 block of Ramon Road in Palm Springs where they served a search warrant. During the service of the search warrant Gang Task Force Officers located a .380 caliber semi-auto handgun and a 12-gauge shotgun both illegally possessed by Carlos Mayorga. Additionally, Mike Perez, 39 of Palm Springs was arrested at the location for a Felony Vehicle Theft Arrest Warrant.
Subsequent follow-up investigation led Gang Task Force Officers to a residence located in the 66000 block of 5th Street in Desert Hot Springs. Deputies with the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team previously authored a search warrant for the residence reference a theft investigation. Rancho Mirage SET responded to the residence with the search warrant in hand and Gang Task Force Officers and Rancho Mirage SET Deputies served the search warrant together. During the service of the search warrant a short standoff ensued during which time the occupants of the residence refused to exit. After several minutes the occupants complied and exited the residence. A total of 6 suspects were taken into custody for various offenses. Elisa Lopez, 25 of Desert Hot Springs was arrested for Felony Violation of Probation and Obstructing/Delaying a Peace Officer. Roberto Seym, 39 of Desert Hot Springs was arrested for Felony Violation of Probation and Obstructing/Delaying a Peace Officer. Joel Lapena, 37 of Desert Hot Springs was arrested for Felony Violation of Probation and Obstructing/Delaying a Peace Officer. Karina Siqueiros, 23 of Desert Hot Springs was arrested for Felony Violation of Probation and Obstructing/Delaying a Peace Officer. Thomas Nieto, 28 of Desert Hot Springs was arrested for an Outstanding Felony Probation Violation Arrest Warrant (Desert Hot Springs Police took custody of Nieto regarding a separate investigation and later booked him at the Larry Smith Correctional Facility in Banning). Christina Vigil, 36 of Desert Hot Springs was arrested for an Outstanding Felony Arrest Warrant issued by the United States Marshals Service for failure to appear in reference to International Narcotics Trafficking.
All suspects were transported to John Benoit Detention Center in Indio where they were booked.
