Details:

On January 28, 2022, around 10:33 P.M., deputies assigned to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Lake Elsinore Station, responded to a major injury traffic collision on Summerhill Dr. and Corte Seriui, in Lake Elsinore. Deputies and Cal Fire arrived within minutes and located a single vehicle that had collided into a light pole and overturned on the right side of Summerhill Dr. Two occupants were in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Cal Fire. The driver was transported to the hospital by AMR with minor injuries. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene by Cal Fire paramedics.

Preliminary investigation indicates the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed south on Summerhill Dr., lost control of the vehicle, collided with a cement light pole, ultimately coming to rest on its roof in a drainage ditch on the right side of Summerhill Dr. Alcohol and drugs were determined to be a factor in the collision. The Lake Elsinore Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision. The driver, Austin McClusky of Escondido, was arrested and booked on felony drunk driving and gross vehicular manslaughter charges. The passengers was identified as Julian Munoz, a 24 year old resident Murrieta CA.
