Funeral services have been scheduled as follows:

Friday, March 4, 2022, at 11:00 AM, Grove Community Church, 19900 Grove Community Drive Riverside, CA 92508

Those wishing to participate in the law enforcement procession (emergency vehicles only), shall meet at Evans-Brown Mortuary, located at 27010 Encanto Drive in Menifee, CA 92585, no later than 9:00 AM. Procession to the church will commence at approximately 9:30 AM.  Those who would like to send flowers may have them delivered directly to Grove Community Church by 9:00 AM on the day of the funeral services.

The procession route will be:

  • Northbound Encanto Road and will turn left on Ethanac Road.
  • Enter onramp to NB I215.
  • NB I215.
  • Exit Van Buren Blvd.
  • Van Buren Blvd to Orange Terrace Pkwy.
  • Turn right on Orange Terrace Pkwy to Abrams Drive. 
  • Turn right on Abrams Drive.
  • Turn left on Grove Community Drive.
  • Turn right on Barton Road. Enter the north parking lot of the church.

Details:

The Department is saddened to announce the death of Correctional Lieutenant Steve Taylor, a 51-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, most recently assigned to the Robert Presley Detention Center. Correctional Lieutenant Taylor passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

Steve Taylor began his service with our Department as a correctional deputy on June 8, 1995, and was assigned to the Indio Jail. In July of 1995, he was transferred to the Southwest Detention Center. On September 14, 2006, he was promoted to correctional corporal and transferred to the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside. In December of 2011, he was promoted to correctional sergeant and transferred to the Southwest Detention Center, where he remained until he was transferred to SITE-B in Banning in 2018. On January 17, 2019, he was promoted to his current rank of correctional lieutenant and again transferred to the Robert Presley Detention Center. Correctional Lieutenant Steve Taylor is survived by his wife, stepdaughter, mother, sister, and brother. 

On behalf of the entire Department, we extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Correctional Lieutenant Steve Taylor.
